Giving Thanks for Our Relationships

After joining the Supplemental Health Care Team in early 2016, I was able to pen my first “giving thanks” blog post in November of that year. I spoke about living my life with an Attitude of Gratitude and how that fit perfectly with the amazing talent and dedication that I witnessed throughout the Supplemental Health Care team.

This year, I want to highlight my gratitude for all of the relationships that I have made and experienced with the members of our incredible organization. From the leadership team I work with every day to the talented healthcare professionals working on the front lines, everyone I meet exhibits an indescribable spirit of caring and compassion. In the healthcare industry, I can’t think of two more important qualities to be at the forefront of who and what we are as an organization.

Just one example of the caring spirit that I witnessed this past year was at a Kansas City local walkathon organized by a school for the blind that we support. Team members came from all over, many driving great distances with family and friends to show this school first-hand how much we care about our clients and their success. And, this type of community interaction and engagement happens all over the country, throughout the year, for numerous fundraisers and other activities supporting those we care about. Thank you for being who you are to make us, collectively, who we are!

Seeing this commitment to our communities affirms the spirit that I witness throughout my travels with Supplemental Health Care. We are an organization that is made up of individuals who care about each other, our clients, and the patients and students we serve daily. That is why I am expressing my gratitude this year and also my confidence that all of us will have much more to be grateful for in the future.

I am also thankful that I got a new daughter this year! Last month my son, Chase, married Haley. If I could have chosen who I wanted my oldest son to spend his life with, I couldn’t have found anyone better than our Haley. The Lucas family grew this year and I’m looking forward to another place at our Thanksgiving table.

I wish you and your loved ones a happy and healthy season of giving and much joy throughout the holidays ahead!
