Looking Towards a Brighter Future in Healthcare

I think it would be fair to say that in my more than 20 years with Supplemental Health Care, none of them were quite as challenging as this year. Not surprisingly, through it all, our amazing team was still putting their patients first and providing quality care despite all the obstacles.

As a leadership team, like all staffing companies, we had to pivot on the fly and adjust as events unfolded around the country. Our COVID taskforce met daily to ensure our staff was taken care of while ensuring that local and state guidelines were being met and emergency orders from the governors were being followed. Through it all, our tireless recruitment teams put people to work where they were needed most. Now that we are experiencing a second wave of the pandemic, I am confident that we have the support and internal processes in place to make sure our clinicians in the field are safe and able to perform their duties.

As difficult as this year has been, it has shown a bright spotlight on how incredible our nurses, allied staff, and other healthcare professionals in the field are at caring for those in need. I am incredibly inspired by those who have worked the front lines of this pandemic. They have been dealing with incredible stress and made personal sacrifices to continue providing quality care. It reminds me of why I wanted to become a nurse some 40 years ago.

I also want to recognize the administrative staff we have throughout the country who have been working so hard behind the scenes. Our recruitment staff maintains constant communication with those in the field to ensure they have the PPE and tools they need, and sometimes just to lend an ear if they need to talk. As a company, I am so proud of how we have all come together to support one another.

If anything, the events of this past year have demonstrated how important it is to be kind to one another and how critical it is to work together as a team no matter what the circumstances may be. Communication has been crucial and I urge everyone to continue communicating and even over-communicate if that is possible. We are all in this together, like a family, and we are here for each other.

As we close out this year and look towards a more hopeful, brighter year ahead, I want to thank every single person who has worked so hard and made so many sacrifices for each other and those in our care. As challenging as things have been, let us all trust that everything will be okay, and together we are stronger with our best days still ahead.

This coming year, I am hopeful for a successful vaccine and that our schools, and hospitals, and businesses can return to a sense of normalcy. If we stay kind to one another, this New Year and our future will be brighter than it has ever been.
