Qualifications for Travel Nursing
If you're interested in becoming a travel nurse, you will first need to successfully complete your education in a nursing program.
- For registered nurses (RN) you will need to graduate with either an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- For licensed practical nurses and licensed vocational nurses (LPN/LVN), you must obtain a licensed practical nursing certificate from your program or an Associate of Applied Science (AAS).
Next, you will need to pass the N-CLEX and obtain your nursing license in your home state or the state you want to work in. After gaining 1-2 years of clinical experience in your nursing specialty, you'll be ready to partner with a travel nursing agency to find your first assignment!
