Like so many labor and delivery nurses, Brian Pruden appreciates the fact that his job allows him to have a front-row seat as new life is brought into the world.

“I have mainly spent my four years as an RN in a hospital setting,” he explains. “Most recently, I have been in Labor & Delivery, and I love it. I consider it a privilege to work with new and growing families, and help them welcome their new babies into the world!”

Brian takes pride in the fact that he is there to help moms during their most intense life moments, and can play a role in helping them make those experiences into great memories.

Why SHC About Us CTA

Brian originally went to college to study music, but he wasn’t sure that he wanted to do that as a career. His sister is a nurse, and as Brian was trying to plan out what he wanted to do as a career, she helped him turn toward healthcare.

“I eventually switched gears and decided that healthcare was a great way to help and heal those in need. I knew that nursing had many different specialties and opportunities to choose from.”

As a travel nurse, Brian is fortunate to have experienced so many things in just a few years. He always strives to care for his patients with empathy, respect, and a positive attitude.

“Nursing is awesome,” he says. “But there are also times of sadness. I once had a couple who were going through a really hard time. I just wanted to make sure they felt at home and comfortable as possible in their hospital room despite the situation. At the time, I thought I was just providing advice, extra blankets, warm soup… but it had an impact on them. They said I was the best nurse they ever met, and that means a lot to me. I will never forget them.”

Wherever he goes on assignment, Brian has a positive impact on his patients and co-workers. He was recognized by leadership while on his current travel assignment, receiving a commendation that states:

“For being an integral team player and an excellent addition to our team. Your dedication and hard work do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do!”

For receiving that recognition from a Supplemental Health Care client, Brian was nominated and has won the Care More Spotlight Award. His efforts and dedication to his craft make him an outstanding ambassador for Supplemental Health Care, and we are proud to have him on our team. Upon learning of his Care More recognition, as is typical for him, he shined the spotlight right back on SHC.

“While working at Supplemental, I have grown and learned so much about myself, my work, and nursing in general. I have learned that you can thrive, even when working outside your comfort zone. Supplemental has helped support me and allowed me to continue my growth while working travel assignments.”
